As you may know, the surgical structure is complete at the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center.  The cost of the building was funded by an individual bequest and the City.  What remains is the purchase of the surgical equipment, estimated at $30,000,  required for the unit to go into full operation.  Currently animals in need of medical care or spay/neuter procedures have to be driven to a local veterinary clinic.  This Clinic will allow animals to be cared for on site, decreasing the stress of the animals,  the time required to transport the animals allowing the Animal Control Officers and volunteers time to complete duties and care for the animals in the shelter.
