Spring is in the air and the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center often receives calls this time of year regarding baby wildlife that appears to be abandoned. Please remember that humans often do more harm than good intervening in these situations, and the best option is to leave the baby alone as its parents are likely to return.

The exception to this rule is if the animal is clearly sick, injured, or there is strong evidence its mother is dead. Then you should contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or the nearest Arizona Game and Fish Department office for assistance and further direction. Learn more from the AZGFD by clicking this link. The AZGFD Tucson office can be reached at (520) 628-5376.
